The ChildRen First (CR1) Project - Ngongotaha Football Club

Children in Rotorua face numerous challenges such as poverty, lack of access to education, and limited opportunities for personal development. It is crucial for
parents, schools, and all stakeholders to recognize the importance of sports, specifically soccer, in the lives of these children. Ngongotaha’ AFC’s CR1 Project recognized the challenge facing our low - income families and the impact it may have on their children. By providing an opportunity to play soccer we can play a vital role in fostering their physical, mental, and educational development.

Together with our whole community, we plan to create a brighter future for these children by leveraging the power of soccer as a catalyst for positive change.

Ngongotaha AFC is extremely proud and excited to launch this free programme in our community. This programme gives an opportunity for all young people to get involved with football while learning valuable life skills that will hopefully set them up for a prosperous future.

Thank you to Aaron Lawrence and Trevor Johnston for getting this off the ground.

We are extremely grateful to the New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) for their generous grant that is going to help us achieve our goals.
